Thage i Skåne connects the full production process in one system

From outdated tools to an integrated digital flow — Thage builds future-ready operations with Next

Thage i Skåne AB is a major Swedish construction company delivering everything from large-scale commercial projects to service-oriented build assignments. As the company looked to modernise its tools and improve operational flow across its entire production chain, it needed a platform that could support both complexity and scale. After a thorough review of the market, Thage chose Next — and began transforming how the business works from the inside out.

The challenge

Thage had used the same project management software for decades — a legacy client-server system that no longer matched modern requirements. As workflows became more complex and the pace of change in the industry increased, the company needed a flexible, cloud-based solution that could support both large projects and smaller service work, with full control from planning to invoicing.

The solution

After evaluating multiple platforms, Thage selected Next for its ability to handle the full production process in one place. The system supports everything from budgeting and purchasing to time tracking, invoicing, and forecasting — all integrated with Thage’s financial system. The move enabled real-time decision-making and a more data-driven approach to managing operations.

We’ve gained time to focus on the right things. The flow is smoother, and with better data we can be more proactive — not just reactive.

— Lars Norling, Head of IT and Business Development, Thage i Skåne AB

The results

Full process integration: One system to manage budgeting, planning, execution and forecasting across all project types.

Improved decision-making: Real-time data enables faster, more informed operational decisions.

Time savings through automation: Key tasks like project setup and invoicing are now automated through integration.

Prepared for the future: A scalable, cloud-based system built to support continued digital development.

The story

Founded in 1947, Thage i Skåne is part of a broader group offering services in construction, carpentry, metalwork, and property management. The company is known for delivering complex, high-quality projects — but for years, they managed them with outdated digital tools.

“We used what had basically become the industry standard since the 90s,” says Lars Norling, head of IT and business development. “But it was built on old technology and couldn’t support how we work today.”

The shift to Next was not rushed. Thage spent over three years analysing around ten potential systems — and took a deeper dive into four or five. What set Next apart was the ability to handle both large-scale construction and smaller service jobs, within a single unified flow. The platform also offered the possibility to integrate tightly with Thage’s existing financial systems.

For Lars, timing was key. “When the market slowed, we used the opportunity to drive this change. Now that things are picking up again, we’re ready — and can get the full value from the system.”

In practice, the move to Next has made work more structured and proactive. Site teams and office staff operate from shared data, and project setup and billing routines are automated. This saves time and reduces errors, particularly in early phases of the project lifecycle.

What’s more, the data now available in real time is helping Thage move from reactive to predictive decision-making. “We can follow our projects in terms of both finances and time spent,” Lars explains. “That helps us manage smarter — and steer production instead of just responding to it.”

The collaboration with Next also stands out. “We felt early on that we were a customer — not just a number,” says Lars. “With their development focus and strong backing from EQT, we see real potential in this platform going forward.”

His advice to others in the industry? “The train is leaving the station. If you don’t get on now, you risk falling behind.
